Freshwater Christian College is a private, independent Christian College located in beautiful tropical Brinsmead, Cairns. We cater for boys and girls from Kindergarten to Year 12, with a current school student population of 580.

Drama Teacher

We are seeking a highly talented and creative Secondary School Drama Teacher with experience in teaching Year 11 and 12 students under the current QCE Syllabus, as well as Years 7 to 10 students. This position is permanent part-time 0.8 FTE (4 days per week) and will commence on 16 January 2023.

  • Be legally permitted to work in Australia as a registered QCT Teacher.

Business Manager

The College Board seeks a Business Manager whose Christian faith informs their professional practice. The successful applicant will be a suitably qualified CPA/CA and have the ability to provide strategic and operational financial leadership for the effective administration and day-to-day management of Freshwater Christian College by:

  • Working with the Principal as part of the College Executive and other stakeholders to implement financial changes within the College
  • Keeping within the financial budgets and adhering to best practice, policies, processes, and legislation
  • Developing financial structures which support and enhance the educational aims of the College
  • Providing adequate, timely, and appropriate advice to allow the Principal to make informed decisions relating to the management of the whole College.

The appointee will be able to:

  • Lead, promote and demonstrate the principles and values of a Christian Education
  • Lead a financial team and promote best practice in fiscal probity
  • Promote continuous improvement of school management practices
  • Nurture the human resources of Freshwater Christian College so that it is a favoured place of employment
  • Oversee the College’s built environment and educational facilities
  • Manage the compliance, reporting, and legal obligations of the College
  • Maintain good relationships with both the College Executive and the College Board and manage complex stakeholder networks
  • Provide an executive level of leadership in all aspects of the College’s business operations, including resourcing and people management, financial management, property/grounds maintenance, and governance

Finance Assistant

Freshwater Christian College is seeking a Finance Assistant (Accounts Receivables) to commence in October 2022. This position is permanent part-time 4 days per week.

The Finance Assistant provides quality, efficient financial and administrative support to the finance area of the College. This role will include accounts receivable/debtors, and general financial administration support to the team.

Selection Criteria

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be highly organised and proactive with time management;
  • Have good customer service skills;
  • Have accurate data entry skills;
  • Have the ability to use Google and Microsoft suites at an intermediate level;
  • Be experienced in an office administration environment, including routine use of office equipment and technology;
  • Have a demonstrated ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all members of the College community (teaching and non-teaching staff, parents, students, and visitors) both individually and as a member of the team;

Outside School Hours Care Educators

We are seeking talented and committed Educators to join our outstanding Outside School Hours Care team. They will be assisting with delivery of the quality education program and practice, providing direct supervision and supporting all children to participate in the program. The position is on a casual basis and hours will vary. Shifts include Before School Care, After School Care and Vacation Care. 

Skills and experience

The successful candidate will 

  • Hold a positive notice (Working with Children Check) Queensland Blue Card;
  • Hold an AQF Certificate III in Children’s Services or equivalent or higher qualification, or the ability to acquire;
  • Have sufficient knowledge and understanding of the National Quality Framework, My Time Our Place Framework and the National Law/Regulations;
